Welcome to this concert! On this page you can find a link to a digital version of our memorial booklet as well as the lyrics* to the songs we’ll be performing during our U.S. Tour Centennial. The songs are listed in their alphabetical order.
*The lyrics are presented both in the original language (mostly Swedish) and with the English translations. Some of these were made already in 1925, and appear in the program book which the choir brought with them on their American tour. The translations were made by the choir member Jack Adams-Ray, a bilingual half-American with impressive language skills. His translations were made with great musicality, and quite a few of them are designed to be possible to use without any adjustments singing the songs (for someone who knows the music.
Considering that the choir had 42 (!) songs in their tour repertoire, his effort was quite far beyond the call of duty. And a century later, we are still in awe, and grateful for his dedication to his work all those years ago!
For additional translations, our thanks go to Jesper Öhrman and our dear friend CG.

About the choir
Stockholms Studentsångare was founded in 1905 as initially an alliance of student singers from Stockholm’s universities. In the next couple of decades the choir quickly established itself as a major name in the academic choir world, not least due to recurring performances at the Nobel prize ceremony – a tradition that lasted for more than 80 years. Today, Stockholms Studentsångare with its 50+ singers in all ages is one of the foremost academic male choirs in Sweden. The popular Spring and Christmas concerts, where we often work with renowned guest artists, form the backbone of our calendar, along with the traditional performances at the Walpurgis celebrations at the open-air museum Skansen (which practically is the birthplace of our choir) and on Sweden’s National Day. In addition, our calendar is filled with various types of performances commissioned by, among others, the Stockholm University and the Royal Court.
